HP NonStop Tandem Server Basic Skills

Course Length:

4˝ Days

Course Description:

Introductory course for HP NonStop Tandem Server operations, systems analysts, help desk, and programming specialists.  Covers basic overview of hardware and software as well as utilities such as TACL, FUP, Spoolcom, Peruse, and editors TEDIT and Edit.

HP NonStop Tandem Server Operations

Course Length:

2 Weeks

Prerequisites:

None

 

Course Description:

This is a two-week course offered to train Help Desk and Operations personnel on the tasks required for their position.  Each task is trained, mentored, performed, and evaluated so that the operator knows their strong and weak points and can correct them.  This is a truly “hands-on” course with many labs and real-life exercises.

HP NonStop Tandem Server Operations (OTJ)

Course Length:

3 Weeks

Prerequisites:

None

 

Course Description:

OJT is for Help Desk and Operations personnel that require only specific knowledge to perform their jobs.  Training is on-site and during the operator’s normal shift.  Training is limited to 1-2 students per session.  Students have a tasks sheet and will be taught, mentored, and then evaluated in that specific task.  Skill levels range from 0 (not trained or competent) to 5 (subject matter expert).  OJT strives for skill level 2 (can perform task with minimal instructional or documentary aids).  Hours per student are 80 hours:  40 hours training, 20 hours lab, and 20 hours evaluation. 

 

Course Notes:

To cover all shifts and students, two instructors are required for all weeks of training to ensure that all operators perform 80 hours of training.  All operators will be covered including weekend and off-hour shifts. Training occurs on normal shifts - not in a classroom.

 

 

TM/MP Operations and Management

Course Length:

4 Days

Prerequisites:

Introduction to HP NonStop Tandem Server, HP NonStop Tandem Concepts & Facilities or equivalent experience.

 

Course Description:

Students will learn basics of transaction monitoring, master all TMFCOM commands, complete initial setup and shutdown of TM/MP system, create media tapes, and perform online and audit trail dumps.

Pathway Operations and Management

Course Length:

5 Days

Prerequisites:

HP NonStop Tandem Server Concepts & Facilities, Basic HP NonStop Tandem Server Skills or equivalent and 6 months experience on HP NonStop Tandem Server.

 

Course Description:

Designed for Systems Analysts, Operations, and Help Desk personnel responsible for HP NonStop Tandem Server application operations and management using Pathway.  Class provides component information, adding, altering, and deleting pathway components, load balancing, and startup and shutdown procedures.

Database Concepts

Course Length:

4˝ Days

Prerequisites:

Introduction to HP NonStop Tandem Server, HP NonStop Tandem Concepts & Facilities or equivalent experience and one-year systems analyst experience recommended.

 

Course Description:

Students will learn advanced systems analysis and management techniques including DSM/SCM, data file manipulation, system balancing, and automating operations techniques.
